Project Engineer, East Sussex

My client, a defence contractor and information technology services provider, is currently looking for a Project Engineer to join on a permanent basis during a period of exponential growth within the business.

The Project Engineer is responsible for schedule execution and partnering with functional engineering managers to ensure proper identification and deployment of engineering resources required for program execution. They will execute programs within the Release Systems & Antenna Products business area within the UK and the role will have visibility and interface with executive leadership for program briefings.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Serving as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, and quality as the products move to completion and distribution.

  • Ensuring that products/projects delivered meet customer requirements and specifications.

  • Developing, managing, and maintaining all aspects of project-level risks, including mitigation, costing and planning.

  • Developing and monitoring detailed MS Project schedules.

  • Using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reports to manage project performance.

  • Review of earned value metrics such as CPI, SPI, TCPI, and ETC to drive program focus

  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement as evidenced by executed improvement projects



Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree or 8+ years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree.

  • Experience with executing throughout the project lifecycle including requirements flow down and allocation, design, development, test, and sell-off

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a technical information environment

  • Ability to work well across multiple engineering disciplines


The ideal candidate must be numerate, literate, hard-working, organised and possess a pleasant telephone manner with a methodical approach to their work. They should be able to work on their own initiative or as part of a team.
