Lead Mechanical Engineering, Bristol

My client, one of the largest providers of integrated oilfield products, services and digital solutions, is currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join on a permanent basis during a period of exponential growth within the business. The Team Leader will be responsible for supporting the Engineering Manager in the management of the day to day activities of the hydromechanical and instrumentation engineering teams that make up the Packaged Controls Products group within PCS. The role requires the candidate to design and develop subsea products to effect short-term and long-term business goals.

Key Job Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Coordinate and manage the following resources: Root Cause Analysis (RCA) engineering involvement, New Product Introduction (NPI) engineering development and Engineering Cost out initiatives

  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned projects and undertake annual and half yearly people reviews

  • Work with Quality Engineering to harmonise engineering practices, change control management and execution through to closure and execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

  • ITO CTRs reviews and supplier development

  • Lifecycle and Service costs reduction via product improvement

  • In-Country faults investigations, product improvements


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate discipline

  • Detailed engineering package engineer experience across hydromechanical Subsea equipment with some experience as a Senior Engineer

  • NPI and EPC project execution experience

  • Proven experience in a team lead position within the Oil and Gas industry / hydromechanical Subsea equipment and hydraulic preferable.


The ideal candidate must be highly proactive and results focused with the ability to influence others within the team. They need to wish to become a leader and develop people both technically and professionally. Someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills would be preferable.
