JAVA DEVELOPMENT - LINUX - SCRIPTING - CLOUD - AGILE - DUBLIN

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to work on a permanent basis in Dublin for a global payments company. You will have good experience of coding with Java (5 yrs +) and also experience with Linux and Scripting. Any experience with the Cloud and Agile is very nice to have. The Production Development Engineer will have a mix of software development and systems engineering skills to ensure their Applications Services run reliably in the cloud and have capacity for future growth.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

●A passion and talent for software development in Java with 5+ years experience
●Strong scripting experience
●Strong knowledge of operational concerns such as Application monitoring, mean time to recovery, performance & capacity planning, operations automation
●Linux Operating system knowledge
●Practical knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals

It also helps if you have:

●Experience within an Agile environment balancing engineering delivery requirements with Site Reliability concerns
●Past experience of working in or very closely with Infrastructure, Operations, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering teams.
●Exposure to developing and operating services with CI/CD pipelines in either public or private cloud environments and associated technologies such as Azure/GPC services, Kubernetes, Docker, Openstack, Chef.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

●You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Application Services that handle billions of payments each year, leveraging and enhancing available monitoring and alerting capabilities to detect, diagnose and resolve Application issues.
●You will work closely with Infrastructure & Operations and Architecture & Engineering on design, planning and execution of technology enhancements and operational improvements of mission-critical Application Services.
●You'll provide guidance and expertise and act as an escalation point in relation to Site Reliability concerns
●You'll identify areas that cause operational burden and you will research and/or build new tools to increase efficiency across the teams.
●You will own a part of the future strategy for the team and have input into the Engineering roadmap.
